Description: Biennial plant up to 60 cm tall. The stem is branched and slightly hairy. The leaves are heart-shaped, shiny and green. The flowers are mostly bisexual, simple, clustered in long loose node  inflorescences. The fruit is a three-edged nut.

Flowering time: April-July

Habitat: Sunny calcareous soils

Interesting fact: It is often considered a weed species, but the plant is edible in smaller quantities, and has slightly sour taste.
