About the Endemic Pathway

ePATH project

The project “Endemic pathway – ePATH” was approved for funding in the II Call for project proposals under “Interreg IPA Cross-border Cooperation Programme Croatia – Bosnia and Herzegovina – Montenegro 2014-2020” with the aim of strengthening and diversifying the tourist offer through cross-border cooperation and improving the management and sustainable use of cultural and natural heritage.
The main goal of this project is to create a joint tourist offer in 3 protected areas through the promotion of natural (endemic species) and cultural values. The three protected areas covered by the project are: Hutovo Blato Nature Park, Biokovo Botanical Garden Kotišina, and Special Nature Reserve Tivat Solila.

The project contributes to investments in a number of tourist facilities that support sensitive ecosystems, adaptation and better equipment of two Interpretation Centres in Hutovo Blato and Tivat Solila, adaptation of educational trails in the Biokovo Botanical Garden Kotišina and Hutovo Blato Nature Park, training of 12 nature park employees who became certified interpreter guides, adaptation of observatories, lookouts and boat docks in the Hutovo Blato Nature Park, which has improved the quality of tourist services in the cross-border area. Through a series of educational workshops, bird and plant observation camps, competitions for visitors through the ePATH mobile application and the creation of promotional materials, the preservation of natural heritage is promoted and a joint tourist offer is created.
